The Tera Cluster will have a voice and vote in the most important sectoral organisation in Spain. Roberto García, vice-president of the Cantabrian group, has been elected as a member of the Multisectorial Association of Information Technology Companies (AMETIC). A milestone that places, for the first time in 50 years, a spokesperson for a Cantabrian company on the board of directors of the Spanish ICT employers’ association.

The election of García as a member provides the Tera Cluster with greater capacity for dialogue and influence in the national ICT ecosystem. In addition to having relevant first-hand information, the representative of the Cantabrian organisation will try to ensure that the technological sector of the region acquires more prominence in the conferences organised annually by AMETIC in Santander.
The Meeting of the Digital Economy and Telecommunications, which takes place within the framework of the summer courses of the Menéndez Pelayo International University, is one of the most important congresses in the sector. From the Tera Cluster they will work to open a window to local talent and allow companies in the region to show their capabilities in a forum that usually brings together large international companies.

This purpose is perfectly aligned with the latest request made by Tera to AMETIC. In a recent meeting held in Santander, the ICT group of the region put on the table the possible incorporation of representatives of Cantabrian companies to the different sectorial commissions of AMETIC. In this sense, it should be noted that the Tera Cluster has been a member of AMETIC since its constitution in 2019 and that it has 3 commissions – Industry, Education and Digital Health. Despite its recent constitution, these working groups have been an active part of important milestones in the technological sector of the Community, such as the imminent launch of the Digital Agenda of Cantabria or the Digital Health Plan of the Public Health System of Cantabria 2024-2028.

AMETIC is the main voice of the digital industry in Spain. Its more than 300 members include global companies in information technology, telecommunications, digital services, electronics and content, as well as industry associations. As an organisation, it works to facilitate the development of the digital sector and the digitalisation of society. An objective that will consequently improve the competitiveness of our country.
